Chapter 6:
Maintaining the Cabinet
The common service operations necessary to maintain the biosafety cabinet
for peak performance are listed below.
Note: This manual covers operation and maintenance operations for the
owners/users of the Axiom biosafety cabinets. Complete certification
procedures, service operations and specifications are published in a separate
publication

Routine Maintenance Schedule
Weekly
Wipe down the interior surfaces of the cabinet with a suitable
disinfectant, or 70% ethanol, and allow to dry.
Using an appropriate glass cleaner clean the sash and the surface of
the UV lamp, if so equipped.
Operate the cabinet blower, noting the percent filter life remaining in
an operational log.
Monthly (or more often as required)
Using a damp cloth clean the exterior surfaces of the cabinet,
particularly the front and top of the cabinet, to remove any
accumulated dust.
Disinfect and lift the work surface. Surface disinfect the area beneath
the work surface with a suitable disinfectant, or 70% ethanol, and
allow to dry. Check the towel catch for retained materials.
