General hints for the assembly
In general terms the numbering of the parts
corresponds to the sequence of the assembly; the
number before the point indicates the stage of
construction, the number after the point the individual
component.
Please study the plan, the instructions and the parts
list so that you have a clear idea how the model fits
together before you start construction.
Vacuum-molded parts include waste material which
has to be cut away before fitting. The waste areas are
shown hatched-in on the parts themselves or in the
drawings.
After cutting out the vacuum-molded parts sand the
cut edges smooth with abrasive paper.
Roughen up all joint areas of the plastic and metal
parts with glasspaper before applying glue.
The plastic parts should be glued using polyester
based resin glue, e.g. UHU acrylit, or cyano-acrylates
(super glue). Do not use epoxy-based adhesives.
The identification drawing at the end of this instruction
is designed to help you locate and identify the die-cut
parts. Number the parts and check holes at the
marked points using the stated size of bit, but don’t
separate them from their sheets until they are needed.
Metal parts which you have to make yourself are
shown in the drawings.
Directions such as „left-hand“ and „right-hand“ are as
seen from the stern
Painting the model
Before applying the final finish you will need to check
all joints and transitions between parts, make good
any gaps with filler and then sand back flush.
Plastic surfaces should be de-greased before
painting, and this is best done with white spirit (not
cellulose thinners) on a soft cloth.
We recommend acrylic-based or synthetic enamel
paints fort his model.
There is no “best“ time to paint the model; it is up to
the builder to decide the right time for painting the
model and its components.
We recommend that you try out the paint on scrap
piece of plastic before applying the final finish, so that
you are confident that the materials are compatible.
Radio control system
We recommend that you install the RC components
shown on the plan. If you decide to use different
components you can still follow the basic installation
scheme, but you may have to make minor
adjustments.
Batteries
The model is designed to accept 12V to 14,4V
batteries. These may be NiMh-Packs, lead batteries
or LiPo-batteries. Please bear this in mind when
selecting accessories and the motor speed controller.
For more information please refer to Stage 5 and the
accessory sheet.
