Installation
Central grid and system protection is required in some
countries. This monitors the voltage and frequency
in the grid and in the event of a fault, shuts down the
photovoltaic systems by means of a circuit breaker.
Check the requirements of your energy provider to find
out whether central grid and system protection is needed
for your system.
If external grid and system protection is used, the
PIKO
EPC AC Off Switch
board in the inverter can be used
as the switching element, which provides the function of
a circuit breaker in conjunction with the inverter's
certified grid and system protection function.

External voltage supply
Thanks to the smart controller of the PIKO EPC AC Off
Switch board, which is activated by the external moni-
toring unit, the PIKO inverter switches off immediately as
soon as the monitoring unit opens the contact and the
external voltage supply is thereby shut down.
INFO
The «PIKO EPC AC Off Switch» board
needs an external voltage supply
(5‑12 V DC), which has to be provided
by the external voltage supply.
In the event of an error, this voltage is
switched off by the external moni‑
toring unit and the PIKO inverter is
disconnected from the grid.
The external voltage supply for the
PIKO EPC AC Off Switch board
should be operated at 12 V DC in
order to ensure a safe function even
with longer cable lengths.
