METHOD FOR CLEANING AIR CLEANER OUTER ELEMENT ON MACHINE
EQUIPPED WITH DOUBLE ELEMENT
NOTICE
Never remove the inner element.
If it is removed, dirt will enter and can cause an engine trouble.
1.
Release the hooks (4) and remove the cover (5).
2.
Hold the outer element (6), rock it lightly up and down and
to the right and left, and pull out the outer element (6)
while turning it to the right or left.
3.
When the outer element (6) is removed, check that the in-
ner element (9) does not come out of position and is not at
an angle.
If it is at an angle, push it straight to the bottom with your
hand.
4.
After removing the outer element (6), cover the inner ele-
ment (9) with a clean cloth or tape to prevent dirt or dust
from entering.
5.
Clean the dust sticking inside the air cleaner body (7) and on the cover (5) by using a clean cloth or brush.
6.
If any dust is attached to the vacuator valve (8) installed to the cover (5), remove it.
7.
When the outer element (6) has been cleaned 5 times or used for 1 year, replace it with a new outer ele-
ment.
If the outer element (6) does not need to be replaced, proceed the cleaning.
8.
Blow dry compressed air (0.2 MPa or less {2.1 kg/cm
2
or
less, 30.0 PSI or less}) from the inside of the outer element
(6) along the pleats.
9.
Blow along the pleats from the outside, then blow again
from the inside.
10. After the cleaning, illuminate the inside of the element with
an electric bulb to check.
If any holes or thin places are found, replace the outer ele-
ment with a new one.
11. Remove the cover of cloth or tape attached to inner ele-
ment (9).
