l
If the line voltage is greater than 120% of the highest nominal rating for one line cycle.
l
If the line voltage is less than 50% of the lowest nominal rating for three line cycles.
l
If the line current is greater than 120% of the highest expected line current for about one second.
l
If the line frequency shifts more than 2 Hz from the initial line frequency for more than one second.
l
If a one-cycle line dropout occurs.
The instrument will automatically reboot if the fault condition is no longer present. The output will
remain off after reboot until the operator reinstates the previous settings, either by the front panel
controls or a computer program. This behavior is consistent with safe operating procedures.
The following conditions will force the output into a protection state and produce a power fail (PF)
status flag. Cycling power will be required to clear the protection:
l
If the line voltage is less than 83% of the lowest nominal rating for more than one second.
l
If an extreme line-to-line surge approaching 2 kV occurs.
The following condition will prevent the instrument from turning on:
l
If the line frequency is outside the range of 46.5 Hz to 63.5 Hz.
In case of an AC mains power failure, the unit will automatically disconnect from the line. This will
occur with the unit either sourcing or sinking current.
Surge Protector Installation
A Surge Protector (Kit p/n RP7961A-60007) is required for Keysight models N69143A, N69145A, and
N68146A.
Equipment Damage. The steady-state line rating for the surge protector is 350 VAC
maximum line-to-earth; and 600 VAC maximum line-to-line.
Before getting started, check the following list and verify that you have received these items. If
anything is missing, please contact your nearest Keysight Sales and Support Office.
Line Surge Protector PCA 400V - p/n 5067-6846
