BACnet Point-To-Point is designed for modem communication. BACnet PTP is a half router. A
BACnet router is formed in conjunction with the dial-in side, creating a complete BACnet net-
work. The BACnet networks must be configured accordingly.
A BACnet network is identified by its network number, which must be unambiguous throughout
the entire BACnet network.

BACnet PTP
Connect timeout
Timeout for establishing a modem connection. If connection cannot be established in this time,
it counts as a connection attempt. The number of dialup attempts – "APDU retries" – is limited.
IDLE timeout
If, during a connection, no "relevant" data is transferred during this period, the connection is
terminated.
