CAUTION:
Before you connect power to the switch, a licensed electrician must attach
a cable lug to the grounding and power cables that you supply. A cable with an
incorrectly attached lug can damage the switch (for example, by causing a short circuit).
CAUTION:
Mixing different types of power supplies in the same external Routing
Engine is not a supported configuration.
NOTE:
Each power supply input feed must be connected to a dedicated DC power source outlet.
Before you begin connecting DC power to an XRE200 External Routing Engine:
•
Install the power supply in the chassis. See
“Installing an AC or DC Power Supply in an XRE200 External
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
•
The DC power source input.
•
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
•
DC power source cables (not provided) with the cable lugs (provided) attached.
•
3/8 in. (9.5 mm) nut driver or socket wrench
•
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 1
To connect DC power to an external Routing Engine:
1. Verify that there is no power flowing from either external power source, so that the voltage across the
leads of the DC power cables is 0 V. Ensure that there is no chance that the cable leads might become
active during the procedure.
2. Remove the clear plastic shield covering the field-wiring terminals on the power supply.
3. Remove the screws on the field-wiring and ground terminal.
4. Verify that a licensed electrician has attached a listed DC power cable lug to each power source cable
and ground cable.
