If an LED is lit indicating a problem with the PIC, issue the
show chassis alarms

command to view a more detailed description of the alarm cause:

If you are unable to correct the problem, replace the PIC with a spare. For instructions,
see “Replacing a PIC in an M40e Router” on page 198. If the LEDs light correctly on the
spare, the original PIC is faulty. Return it to Juniper Networks for replacement, as
described in “Contacting Customer Support” on page 307.
