4.5. Engine Protection modes
4.5.1. Safe mode operation
The system has been designed to enter a Safe mode when RPM
signal is lost temporarily. If safe mode is entered, the fuel flow is
reduced to ensure that the engine will not over-speed. The RPM is
monitored consistently - if reliable RPM signals are restored, the
system returns to normal operation.
The pilot can only increase the power after normal operation has been
restored.
4.5.2. Over temperature protection
If the measured EGT exceeds the normal operation EGT limit for a
duration exceeding a pre-set duration, the throttle will be automatically
reduced. The pilot may increase the power setting, but the system will
not allow an RPM setting with a resulting EGT exceeding the
maximum allowable EGT.
4.5.3. Automatic Shut down
In case the maximum allowable engine temperature is exceeded, the
engine will be shut down instantly. The normal cooling cycle will
follow an automatic shutdown.
