4.5. Spring-Loaded Encoder
The spring-loaded encoder maintains contact with the scan surface.
4.5.1. Longitudinal Setup
To attach the encoder to the wheel block with handle during long seam
scanning, follow these steps:
1.
Loosen the dovetail jaw and mount to the wheel block with handle
(Fig. 36)

2.
Tighten the encoder’s knob
(Fig. 37)
.
3.
Spring tension maintains constant encoder contact with the scan surface
(Fig. 38)

4.5.2. Circumferential Setup
To attach the encoder to the frame bar during circumferential scanning, follow
these steps:
1.
Loosen the encoder’s dovetail jaw and mount to the dual pivot frame bar
(Fig. 39)

2.
Tighten the encoder’s knob
(Fig. 40)

3.
Spring tension maintains constant encoder contact with the scan surface
