Charging the RTC battery
In addition to the main battery, the computer contains an internal battery for the
real-time clock (RTC). The RTC battery provides power for the internal real-time
clock and calendar.
During normal use, the main battery keeps the RTC battery adequately charged.
Occasionally, the RTC battery may lose its charge completely, especially if you
have had the computer turned off and without main battery pack inserted for a
long time.
It is seldom necessary to charge the RTC battery because it charges while the
computer is on. However, if the RTC battery is low, the real-time clock and
calendar may display the incorrect time and date or stop working.
To recharge the RTC battery, plug the adapter into system for at least 24 hours.
The computer can be used while the RTC battery is being charged. Although the
charging status of the RTC battery cannot be monitored, if the power is on, it takes
approximately 24 hours to fully charge the RTC battery.
