Track Gearbox
Dismantling
1
Remove the bolts securing the drive sprocket to the
flange of spindle
2
and lift the sprocket away.
Screw two eyebolts
(see Service Tools, Section 3)
into diametrically opposite flange holes in the spindle.
2
Using a hoist and sling capable of supporting the track
gearbox weight of 93.4 kg (206 lb), lift the gearbox
onto the special workbench.
Refer to the exploded drawings of the traction motor and
gearbox as a guide to dismantling and assembly. The
numbers in bold type (e.g.
33
) refer to annotations on the
drawings.
Before dismantling the track gearbox, blank off all hydraulic
ports, wash the outer surfaces with a suitable solvent to
remove all dirt and oil, and then dry using compressed air.
Pay particular attention to the gap between the hub and the
spindle.
Inscribe alignment marks across mating sub-assembly joint
flanges as an aid to re-assembly.
The hydraulic section parts are precision made, and care
should be taken to avoid damaging them or knocking them
together.
Discard all 'O' rings, back-up rings and oil seals exposed
during dismantling.
Note:
The following procedures assume that the special
workbench shown in Service Tools, Section 1 is used. The
bench provides the means to clamp the gearbox and turn it
over. In the absence of this special workbench, other
suitable means of handling the unit will be required.
