Command Usage
To configure protocol-based VLANs:
1.
First configure
VLAN groups for the protocols
you want to use. Although not mandatory, we
suggest configuring a separate VLAN for each major protocol running on your network. Do not add
port members at this time.
2.
Create a
protocol group
for each of the protocols you want to assign to a VLAN using the Protocol
VLAN Configuration page.
3.
Then map the protocol for each interface to the appropriate VLAN using the Protocol VLAN Port
Configuration page.
This page allows you to configure protocol-based VLAN Group Setting. The protocol-based VLAN
screens in Figure 4-5-9 and Figure 4-5-10 appear.

The page includes the following fields:
Object
Description
Group ID
Protocol Group ID assigned to the Special Protocol VLAN Group.
Frame Type
Frame Type can have one of the following values:
Ethernet II
IEEE802.3_LLC_Other
RFC_1042
Note
:
On changing the Frame type field, valid value of the following text field
will vary depending on the new frame type you selected.
Protocol Value
(0x0600-0xFFFE)
Valid value that can be entered in this text field depends on the option selected
from the preceding Frame Type selection menu.
Valid values for frame type ranges from 0x0600-0xfffe
