Fan redundancy monitoring and support.
Power supply redundancy monitoring and support.
Hot-swap fan support.
Acoustic management: Support for multiple fan profiles.
Signal testing support: The BMC provides test commands for setting and getting
platform signal states.
The BMC generates diagnostic beep codes for fault conditions.
System GUID storage and retrieval.
Front panel management: The BMC controls the system status LED and chassis ID LED.
It supports secure lockout of certain front panel functionality and monitors button
presses. The chassis ID LED is turned on using a front panel button or a command.
Power state retention.
Power fault analysis.
Intel
®
Light-Guided Diagnostics.
Power unit management: Support for power unit sensor. The BMC handles power-good
dropout conditions.
DIMM temperature monitoring: New sensors and improved acoustic management using
closed-loop fan control algorithm taking into account DIMM temperature readings.
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP): The BMC sends and responds to ARPs (supported
on embedded NICs).
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP): The BMC performs DHCP (supported on
embedded NICs).
Chassis intrusion fan interactions.
Platform environment control interface (PECI) thermal management support.
4.2 Advanced Management Feature Support
This section explains the advanced management features supported by BMC firmware.
4.2.1
Enabling Advanced Management Features
Advanced management features will only be enabled by the BMC when it detects the presence
of the Intel
®
Remote Management Module 3 (Intel
®
RMM3) card. Without the Intel
®
RMM3, the
advanced features will be dormant.
4.2.1.1 RMM3
The Intel
®
RMM3 provides the BMC with an additional dedicated network interface. The
dedicated interface will consume its own LAN channel. Additionally, the Intel
®
RMM3 will
provide additional flash storage for advanced features like WS-MAN.
