Checking the brake fluid losses is done by holding the brake and then, whit the brake locked
inspect visual from brake lever to caliper for fluid leakage.
-
Checking brake discs requires not to identify on their surface grooves, scratches or other
mechanical damage.
-
Checking the disc movement in the caliper is done by raising the wheel from the ground and
spinning it. The disc should not produce any friction noise whit brake pads.
-
Check the wear of the brake disc and the brake pads (explanation later).
When touring for several days brake disk, brake blocks and brake pads can wear a lot. When
touring like this carry spare brake blocks and replacement pads with you. Only replace them
yourself if you are familiar with this job. Please consult your dealer. If you cannot replace them
yourself have them done by a trained specialist.
4. Checking mechanical disk brakes
The wiring is checked as in section 2 of this chapter, and the calipers and discs as in section 3
of this chapter.
CRANK SET AND CHAIN CHECK
1. Checking the crank set motion is done by pressing
the left arm of the crank set toward the frame (see
photo). You must not feel any kind of motion and
hear any noise.
2. Chain check will be made visually. The chain should
be clean and free of damage on its components. In
static position of the bike in reverse rotation of crank
set (toward back) chain does not have to produce
strange noises and must run free to tip or not to
have a tendency to jump off the crank set, sprocket
and rear derailleur rollers.
ADJUSTMENTS AND BIKE USE
You can make certain adjustments to your bike. For that you will need a minimum amount of tools and
technical knowledge.
SUSPENSION FORK ADJUSTMENTS
Please read the instructions for adjusting your suspension forks from the suspension fork
manufacturer
’s component instructions.
TRANSMISSION USE
In the use of transmission we come across the term "speed shift". This means positioning the chain
from one chain ring or sprocket to another.
