2.7.3 Installation Procedure
Check for damage especially to the interface connector, do not install if any pins are bent.
1
The two modules should be installed in rear bays 1/1 and 3/1 of the chassis (
Figure 2–8
).
2
Loosen the screws securing the retaining bracket (see
Figure 2–1
) and slide the bracket downwards, until
it is clear of the side of the I/O module.
3
Slide the I/O module fully into the enclosure a slight resistance will be felt as the card is inserted in the
PCI connector and the rear face of the I/O module will be flush with the rear face of the PSU.
4
Return the retaining bracket to the centre position and tighten
5
I
nstall the second I/O module, ensuring that 2 x 4 I/O module switch settings are appropriate for the
configuration required.
2.7.4 Interface Cable Attachment
2.7.4.1
Termination
External Ultra-320 compatible termination is required.
Important
External termination should be fitted to all unused I/O connectors to ensure termination of the
SCSI bus. I/O modules do NOT contain any bus termination.
2.7.4.2
Connections
Warning
Ensure that the maximum total cable length does not exceed 3 metres for U320 operation,
especially if multiple devices are “daisy chained” on the same channel.
• Connect External Ultra-320 SCSI compatible cables to either of the connectors.
• On a 2 x 4 I/O module, the right hand side (from rear) connects to Channel 0 (device Bays 1/1 to 2/
2) and the left hand side to Channel 1 (device Bays 3/1 to 4/2); (see
Figure 2–13
). This applies when
the I/O module is in either location (1/1 or 3/1)
