5.7.3 IP Address Configuration
Figure 34 shows the configuration items used to modify
the IP address-related parameters. Modification of these
settings is consistent with the technique used with the
Finder utility (refer to section 4.2.1).
5.7.4 MAC
Address
Configuration
Figure 35 shows the entry boxes that are used to view
and/or modify the unique MAC address of the interface.
The MAC address should not be changed without first
consulting ICC Technical Support.
5.7.5 Wireless
Settings
Figure 36 shows the wireless configuration items, which
must be assigned to have values that are compatible with
the remainder of the wireless network installation in order
to allow communication. The wireless configuration is
comprised of two basic subgroups: the wireless LAN
settings and the wireless security settings. The wireless
LAN settings define the basic LAN parameters, and are
not related to any specific security or encryption settings.
The wireless security settings, on the other hand, define
the specific authentication and encryption algorithms that
are to be used to secure all communication that is carried
on the LAN.
SSID:
The SSID (Server Set Identifier) is the wireless
network name shared among all points in a wireless
network. The SSID must be identical for all devices in
the wireless network. It is case-sensitive and must be
comprised of 1 to 32 characters (any characters are
valid). For added security, you should change the default
SSID (“Connect”) to a unique name after initial
configuration.
Network Type:
By making the appropriate selection you can configure the interface card to either
connect to access point (infrastructure) networks only, peer-to-peer (ad-hoc) networks only, or any
available wireless network (infrastructure or ad-hoc).
Country Code:
Availability of Wi-Fi channels and maximum allowable transmission power is regulated
by country, constrained in part by how each country allocates radio spectrum to various services. By
properly setting the country code to the country in which the interface is currently installed, the interface
will automatically compensate for the legally-allowed channel set and transmission power.
Channel:
The list of available channels will depend on the Country Code setting. Select a specific
wireless channel, or select “auto” to allow the interface card to scan all available frequencies until it
locates an available wireless network that it can join.
Enable Short Preamble:
Using short preambles can boost wireless network throughput. Select this
checkbox if your wireless network supports this feature.
