If you are instructed to return the ServeRAID SAS controller battery, follow
all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping
that are supplied to you.

Installing the serveRAID SAS controller battery on the remote
battery tray

The following procedure is for a Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU).
Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at
your request, you will be charged for the installation. Service agreements can be
purchased so that you can ask IBM to replace these units.

Note:

Before running a procedure, refer to “Removing a file module to perform a

maintenance action” on page 51.

To install the serveRAID SAS controller battery on the remote battery tray,
complete the following procedure.

1.

Place the replacement battery on the battery carrier from which the former
battery had been removed, and connect the battery carrier cable to the
replacement battery.

2.

Connect the remote battery cable to the interposer card.

Attention:

To avoid damage to the hardware, make sure that you align the

black dot on the cable connector with the black dot on the connector on the
interposer card. Do not force the remote battery cable into the connector. See
Figure 35 on page 127
