have
installed
an
I/O-expansion
card

blade

communications
from
the
expansion
card
are
routed
to
I/O-module
bays
3
and
4,
if
these
bays
are
supported
by
your
BladeCenter
unit.
You
can
verify
which
controller
on
the
card
is
routed
to
which
I/O-module
bay
by
performing
the
same
test
and
using
a
controller
on
the
expansion
card
and
a
compatible
switch
module
or
pass-thru
module
in
I/O-module
bay
3
or
4.
Configuring
a
SAS
RAID
array
Note:
Configuring
a
SAS
RAID
array
applies
to
a
blade
server
and
MPE
unit
where
a
SAS
hard
disk
drive
is
installed
in
both
the
blade
server
and
the
MPE
unit.
You
can
configure
a
SAS
RAID
array
for
your
blade
server.
You
can
use
two
SAS
hard
disk
drives
in
the
blade
server
to
implement
and
manage
a
RAID
level-0
(striping)
or
RAID
level-1
(mirroring)
array
under
an
operating
system
that
is
listed
at
http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/.

If
an
optional
BladeCenter
Storage
Expansion
Unit
3
is
installed,
you
can
use
it
to
control
all
of
the
SAS
hard
disk
drives
installed
in
the
blade
server.
You
enable
this
feature
using
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
(see
the
Installation
and
User’s
Guide
for
information
and
instructions).
Important:
You
must
create
the
RAID
array
before
you
install
the
operating
system
on
the
blade
server.
You
can
use
the
LSI
Logic
Configuration
Utility
program
to
configure
the
SAS
hard
disk
drives
and
SAS
controller.
To
start
the
LSI
Logic
Configuration
Utility,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Turn
on
the
blade
server
(make
sure
that
the
blade
server
is
the
owner
of
the
keyboard,
video,
and
mouse)
and
watch
the
monitor
screen.
2.
When
the
LSI
Logic
Configuration
Utility
message
appears,
press
Ctrl+C
.
3.
Follow
the
instructions
on
the
screen
to
modify
the
SAS
hard
disk
drive
and
SAS
controller
settings.
