Network settings
Locating an IP address
Perform the following steps to identify the IP address of a wireless network:
1.
Turn on the WLAN.
2.
Establish a WLAN connection.
3.
On the
Today
screen, tap
Start > iPAQ Wireless > iPAQ WLAN
.
4.
Select the profile for the connection for which the IP address is desired from the
Profile
drop-down
list.
5.
Tap the
Status
button.
6.
Tap
OK
to close the window.
Changing TCP/IP settings
Note:
Most ISPs and private networks use dynamically assigned IP addresses. Unless the ISP or private network does not use
dynamically assigned IP addresses, the TCP/IP settings require no change. If unsure whether the TCP/IP settings use
dynamically assigned IP addresses then contact the network administrator.
Perform the following steps to change the TCP/IP settings on the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series
with Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 handheld device:
1.
Turn on the WLAN.
2.
On the
Today
screen, tap
Start > iPAQ Wireless > iPAQ WLAN
.
3.
Select the desired profile from the
Profile
drop-down list.
4.
Tap the
Edit
button.
5.
Tap
Next
.
6.
Select
Use specific IP address
7.
Enter the appropriate information.
8.
Tap
Next
.
9.
Tap
Finish
.
10.
Tap
OK
to close the window.
Changing DNS and WINS settings
Servers that require an assigned IP address may also require a way to map computer names to IP
addresses. The HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series handheld devices support two name resolution
options:

WINS
