Verify that there are no new bad sectors on the specified disk drive. This is a normal procedure
to perform before you bring down the disk for the RESTORE process.
INFO DISK $DATA, BAD
If you find any unspared defective sectors:
a.
Use the SCF CONTROL DISK, SPARE command to correct the situation.
b.
Recheck the status of both halves of the mirrored volume using the INFO DISK command.
You must find no new defects before continuing.
3.
Bring down all paths of the disk to be restored. RESTORE requires that both halves of a mirrored
volume be in the DOWN state to perform a volume-mode RESTORE.
STOP DISK $9
4.
Ensure that all paths of the disk volume are DOWN:
INFO DISK $DATA, DETAIL
5.
Exit SCF.
6.
Issue the volume-mode RESTORE command:
3> RESTORE $TAPE4, VOLUMEMODE, *, TARGET $9-M
7.
Check the state of the disk after the RESTORE process has finished. All paths to the disk should
still be DOWN.
4> SCF
INFO DISK $DATA, DETAIL
8.
Issue the appropriate SCF command to bring both halves of the mirrored disk UP:
5> SCF
START DISK $DATA
