2.8 SK3000 Vacuum System
Vacuum System
The vacuum system is powered by the SK3000
engine and activated whenever the engine is oper-
ating and the PTO clutch is engaged. The blower
creates vacuum in the filter canister, vacuum/
waste tank, intake vacuum hoses and Hog Head
when attached to the tractor, Ground Hog or other
Hog Technologies equipment. A filter located in
the filter canister protects the blower from debris
and a silencer mounted above blower reduces
noise and prevents water, insects or debris from
getting into the blower though the blower exhaust
system.
Flexible hoses with quick disconnect fittings pro
-
vide vacuum to the tractor Hog Head or other
Waterblasting equipment. A swing arm boom
allows the hose to move with the tractor or Wa-
terblasting equipment and helps prevent the hoses
from dragging on the ground.
The blower bearings require lubrication daily us-
ing special grease specified by the blower manu
-
facturer. Refer to the Lubrication Chart in the
Maintenance section of this manual and the blower
manufacturer’s manual for lubrication specifica
-
tions and additional information on the operation
and maintenance of the blower.
The vacuum can be adjusted by increasing or
decreasing the engine RPM. Thus, maximum
vacuum, -7 PSI (.5 Bar,) is achieved at 2200 RPM.
(Maximum engine operating RPM) A relief valve
(kunkle Valve) on top of the vacuum canister will
automatically open if it senses excessive vacuum
in the system. Always test this valve and all
vacuum hose connections at the start of each shift
to ensure the valve is operating properly and there
are no vacuum leaks in the system.
The vacuum filter should be cleaned daily. The
canister is equipped with a door in the side that
provides easy access to the filter and a means to
inspect the canister for excessive debris, water or
to clean the filter. There is a manual drain valve
at the bottom to remove water from the canister
as needed. Make sure the vacuum system is
shutdown before opening the canister door or
attempting to drain the water and never leave
the drain valve open when the vacuum system
is operating.
