the Hog Head. When the Hog Pack is used, lever
switches and knobs on the Waterblasting unit
control the hydraulic functions of the equipment
and the rotation of the spray bar.
Refer to the Hog Tools section in this manual for
more information on optional tools that require
the HT500 Hog Pack.
Clean Water Tank
The clean water tank is mounted to the skid just
forward of the waste tank and made of plastic to
reduce corrosion and provide a supply of clean,
fresh water to the charge pump. A valve on the
driver’s side of the skid near the waste tank door
allows for quick draining of the tank. The fill con
-
nection accommodates large hoses, such as a fire
hose, that are typically connected to a metered fire
hydrant to expedite the filling of the tank. Make
sure to flush the fill source with twice the water
flow as used to fill the tank to reduce the risk of
debris entering the clean water tank.
The tank should be flushed frequently with clean,
fresh water to prevent the accumulation of debris
that may accidently enter the tank during filling.
It must be thoroughly cleaned if the tank was
filled from a contaminated water source or if the
source was not properly flushed prior to filling.
A large hatch on top of the water tank provides
access to the inside for inspection or to facilitate
cleaning, if necessary.
Charge Water System
The clean water tank provides water to the low
pressure charge pump. The charge pump is the
flexible impeller type and is driven directly by the
engine. It is activated whenever the engine is
running. It delivers water to the Ultra High Pres-
sure (UHP) Pump and should maintain pressure
between a maximum of 40 PSI (2.8 Bar) and mini-
mum of 30 PSI (2.1 Bar) on the charge pressure
gauge located on the water filters.
Notice:
The UHP pump can cavitate if the charge wa-
ter pressure drops below 25 PSI (1.7 Bar.)
Cavitation can cause severe damage to the
UHP pump and should never be allowed to
occur. You should always monitor the charge
water pressure and never operate the UHP
pump when the charge water pressure drops
below 30 PSI (2.1 Bar) .
The charge pump impeller will be damaged if pump
is allowed to run dry for more than a few seconds.
