If it is not possible to measure the ambient temperature and if the internal temperature of the instrument 
and ambient temperature vary widely, the ambient temperature may be set manually. This option is also 
useful if the instrument communicates permanently via serial interface and therefore ambient temperature 
may be set by a central control unit.
