Field Description
collisions
Number of frames that the interface stopped transmitting because Ethernet
collisions were detected during transmission.
late collisions
Number of frames that the interface deferred to transmit after transmitting
their first 512 bits, because of detected collisions.
- lost carrier
Number of carrier losses during transmission. This counter applies to serial
WAN interfaces.
A hyphen (-) is displayed for an unsupported statistical item.
no carrier
Number of times that the port failed to detect the carrier when attempting to
send frames. This counter applies to serial WAN interfaces.
Table 2
Description on the possible physical states of a Layer 2 Ethernet interface
Field Description
UP
The interface is physically up.
DOWN
The interface is physically down because no physical connection exists
(possibly reason: the network cable is disconnected or faulty).
DOWN ( Administratively )
The interface is physically down because it was shut down with the
shutdown
command. To restore its physical state, use the
undo shutdown
command.
DOWN ( Loopback
detection-protected )
The interface is shut down because a loop is detected on it.
