Usage guidelines
You can perform this operation only after you log in to the FTP server.
The carriage return characters vary by operating system. For example, HP and Windows use
/r/n
,
and Linux uses
/n
. To transfer files between two systems that use different carriage return
characters, select the FTP transfer mode according to the file type.
FTP transfers files in either of the following modes:
•
Binary
mode
—Transfers image files or pictures. This mode is also called flow mode.
•
ASCII
mode
—Transfers text files.
