Zodiak Control Surface Cabling and Control
LAN Requirements
A simple Zodiak system uses point-to-point connections and does not
require an external Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) (see
A Zodiak system requires a LAN when components in addition to a Main
panel, Menu panel, and Video Processor frame are connected or when
external network access to a Still Store file system is desired. An appropri-
ately sized Ethernet switch will be required (see
).
CAUTION
Ethernet hubs are necessary to exceed maximum cable runs. An existing
facility Ethernet switch (not hub) can support Zodiak if an adequate number
of ports are available. Keep your facility network and technical network sep-
arate in order to avoid network traffic negatively affecting Zodiak system
operation.
