STEP 13: DECK BOARDS
A 1/8" DRILL BIT AT THE DIMENSIONS SHOWN BELOW.
1: PRE-DRILL THE ENDS OF THE DECK BOARDS TO PREVENT INSTALLATION DAMAGE. PRE-DRILL BOTH ENDS WITH
THE FOLLOWING STEP IS RECOMMENDED TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SPLITS IN THE WOOD
2: START WITH A 5/4 X 6 X 47-3/8" DECK BOARD AT ONE END OF THE FORT. CENTER THE BOARD BETWEEN THE
FRONT FACE BOARD AND THE REAR BOTTOM PANEL BOARD AND ATTACH IT WITH 2" WOOD SCREWS THROUGH
THE PREDRILED HOLES AND INTO THE DECK SUPPORTS BELOW. LEAVE A UNIFORM (APPROX. 1/4") SPACE
BETWEEN THE DECK BOARDS. NOTE: THE TOP OF THE SCREW HEAD SHOULD BE FLUSH TO THE TOP OF THE DECK
BOARDS.
LAY ALL DECK BOARDS ACROSS THE DECK SUPPORTS BEFORE SECURING THEM TO THE
FORT. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE EQUAL SPACING ACROSS THE DECK.
