e)  Do not use this product in wet conditions. Ensure that material to be cut is dry before 

starting work

f)  Do not use this tool if guards are missing or damaged
g)  This tool should only be used in an upright position, with the spool or blade close 

to the ground

h)  Walk slowly when carrying this tool. Freshly cut grass or brush is slippery and may 

conceal trip hazards

i)  Only use correct nylon trimmer line or specialist blades designed for your tool. 

Attempting to use or adapt any other kind of cutting accessory is highly dangerous

j)  Never pass arms or legs near to the blade when cutting. Always stand in a stable 

position, well back from the cutting area

k)  Be prepared for the possibility of kickback in some circumstances. Correct use and 

regular maintenance will significantly reduce the chance of kickback occurring

l)  Always switch off the tool before crossing over gravel paths or roads
m)  Always ensure that the motor ventilation slots are kept clear of debris.

 This allows 

the motor to maintain a normal safe operating temperature

n)  Never leave the tool unattended outside when there is possibility of rain. Place the 

tool in a rain-proof outbuilding or bring inside the home to prevent an electrical hazard 
and damaging or destroying the tool

o)  In hot weather the tool may stop operating due to excessive temperature in the 

motor (or battery pack on cordless tools).

 Do not attempt to use the tool again until the 

tool has fully cooled. If possible try to avoid using the tool at peak midday temperatures or 
try to keep to the shade as much as possible.

IMPORTANT: Switch off and disconnect the mains supply or battery when;
•  The tool is unattended 
•  Before replacing the spool
•  If the mains cable is entangled
•  Before performing maintenance on the tool

Intended Use

Portable light-duty mains-powered garden tool for cutting grass and small weeds using a 
rotating trimmer line. The main tool head can be rotated so the tool can be used as a lawn 
edge tool.

Unpacking Your Tool

•  Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and 

functions

•  Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing 

or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool

Before Use

 WARNING: Ensure the mains plug is disconnected from the power supply before 

attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.

Trimmer assembly

1.  The Guard (13) click-fits into place as shown by the three arrows in Image A
2.  Secure the Guard by fitting the supplied screws into the positions shown in Images B and 

C. Do not over-tighten

3.  Attach the Auxiliary Handle (1) by compressing the spring handle mechanism as indicated 

by the arrows in Image D

4.  Slide the Auxiliary Handle over as shown in Image E
5.  Press in the Auxiliary Handle spring mechanism as shown in Image F to adjust to the right 

position for the operator of the tool

6.  Adjust the tool to the required length by partially unscrewing the Length Adjuster (2). Adjust 

then re-tighten the Length Adjuster 

7.  Lower the Edging Guard (4) into the open position, it click stops into open and closed 

positions

Mode selection 

1.  Use as a lawn edging tool by pressing and holding the Mode Selector (3) and rotating the 

end of the trimmer 180°

2.  Release the Mode Selector button. Check the head is secure by attempting to rotate the 

head without using the Mode Selector button. The head should not move 

3.  Lower the Edging Guard (4) into the open position

Operation

 Use of an RCD (residual current device) will reduce the chance of electric shock when 

using an outdoor power tool 

 If it is necessary to use an extension lead, check the lead is specifically intended for 

outdoor use
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as 
well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.

Cable Support

Loop a small part of the mains cable around the Cable Support (7) to prevent the mains cable 
pulling directly on the cable fitting of the grass trimmer during use. After use it also provides a 
support for hanging the wound mains cable.

Switching on and off

1.  Hold the machine with one hand on the Main Handle (9) and the other on the Auxiliary 

Handle (1)

2.  Switch on the machine by pressing the Safety Lock-Off (10) and then the On/Off Trigger 

(8). The machine will run until the On/Off Trigger is released
