13. Reach in behind the cover, and then locate
and disconnect the freezer fan wire harness.

14. Pull the evaporator cover out from the cabinet.

To prevent damage to fan motor wiring in
the following step, make sure the freezer fan wire
harness is disconnected.
Freezer Evaporator Components
WARNING:
Sharp edges may be exposed when
servicing. Use caution to avoid injury. Wear Kevlar
gloves or equivalent protection.
Thermal Protector
The freezer defrost heater circuit is protected by two
160°F thermal fuses assembled as a single thermal
protector that is pre-wired with 2 connectors. Each
side of the heater circuit is fused to protect from
thermal runaway. The thermal protector clips
onto the suction line. It is necessary to remove the
evaporator cover to access the thermal protector.
