Replace the pH electrode
Maintenance interval
Replace the pH electrode every six months, or when required.
Required material
The following materials are required:
•
pH electrode
•
distilled water
•
pH electrode storage solution (1:1 pH 4 standard buffer:1 M KNO
3
)
•
pH 4 and pH 7 standard buffers
Procedure
Follow the steps below to replace the pH electrode.
CAUTION
pH-electrode. Handle the pH-electrode with care. The glass tip
may break and cause injury.
Follow the steps below to replace the pH electrode.

Step
Disconnect the pH electrode cable from the connection on the front of the
pH monitor.

Unscrew the locking ring nut of the pH electrode and remove the electrode.

Fit a new pH electrode as described in the ÄKTA pilot 600 Operating
Instructions.

Allow the electrode to remain in storage solution for at least 1 h before use.

Calibrate the new pH electrode (see the ÄKTA pilot 600 Operating Instructions).
