CAUTION
– Do not use any sharp-edged objects, abrasive cleaners, cleaning
pads (e.g. metal scouring pads), or any corrosive cleaners (e.g. disinfectants, che-
mical bleach) for cleaning. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for clea-
ning the appliance. Do not place the appliance in an automatic dishwasher.
3. Clean the filter basket, splash shield, re-usable filter, steel carafe and the hopper
lid using warm dishwater and a soft cloth. Rinse well, than dry thoroughly (see:
‘Care and Cleaning’).
4. Ensure that the bean hopper is completely empty, but do not attempt to remove
the bean guiding cone. Wipe the interior of the bean hopper using a soft, cle-
an, and dry cloth. Close the bean hopper via the hopper lid.
NOTE
Before using the appliance for making the first coffee, you should rinse the brewing
system with clear tap water,
leaving the bean hopper and filter basket empty
.
5. Prepare the coffee machine for operation,
but without a filter and without
coffee beans or coffee powder
. Place the filter basket into the filter holder and
cover via the splash shield. Swivel the filter holder under the brewing head and
slightly press it in to engage it securely. (see: ‘Brewing Coffee / Preparing the
Appliance for Operation’).
NOTE
Only use cold, fresh tap water for rinsing the water system. Do not use mineral
water, de-ionized water, or other liquids. Do not use any additives.
6. Open the water tank lid at the rear of the appliance and fill the water tank up
to filling level 8 with cold clear tap water (1.0 litre). Then close the water tank
lid. Ensure to place the steel carafe on the base plate of the appliance with
the carafe lid closed. Ensure that the filter holder including the filter basket and
splash shield is engaged securely below the brewing head.
7. Touch the grinder button and ensure that the grinder button illuminates red. Start
operation by touching the on/off button (see: ‘Brewing Coffee’). The on/off but-
ton illuminates red and the appliance starts operation.
WARNING
– After operation, the steel carafe is filled up almost to the rim
with hot water. Additionally, the brewing head, filter basket, and base plate of the
appliance is hot. Only touch the parts of the appliance by the dedicated handles.
Handle the steel carafe with care when taking out the steel carafe and pouring the
water to avoid injuries and damage due to hot surfaces and hot water.
