2) Remove the spark plug using the supplied spark
plug wrench (30) by rotating in a anti clockwise
direction to loosen and remove the spark plug.
(See Fig. M2)
3) Check the spark plug. The spark gap must be
0.6 to 0.7 mm.
4) Clean the spark plug when it is contaminated.
Clean any deposits from the spark plug with
a rag or damp cloth. Visually inspect the
spark plug. Discard the spark plug if there is
apparrent wear, or if the insulator is cracked or
chipped. Check that the end of the spark plug is
not blackened by carbon build up. Clean with a
soft wire brush if required.
5) Replace the spark plug if necessary and re-

direction to fit the spark plug.
Replace the spark plug
- once a month if the device is often used,
- when the insulating body is damaged,
- when the electrodes show excessive erosion,
- when the electrodes show excessive dirt or oil.
3. AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE
A dirty air filter (36) will restrict air flow to the carburettor. To prevent
carburettor malfunction, service the air filter (36) regularly. Filters thick
with debris will not allow the engine to breathe and result in difficult
starting and poor engine performance.
1) Remove the air filter cover (35) by disengaging the tab on the top of
the air filter cover (35), and then remove the air filter (36). (SEE FIG.
N1, N2) Check that the air filter (36) is clean and free of dirt.
2) To loosen debris, gently tap the air filter (36) on a hard surface or
use compressed air. If the air filter (36) is excessively dirty, replace
with a new filter.
NOTE:
• Never clean the air filter with petrol or inflammable solvents. Clean
