2.2.
EXPLANATION OF TERMS
The term “machine” is used in this instruction handbook to refer
to the surface finishing machine including the transport trolley.
3.
Safety
3.1.
GROUPED SAFETY MESSAGES
Transition between the trough and machine cladding
Crush hazard and laceration hazard for parts of the body.
» Do not reach into the gaps or other components.
» Do not open the cladding whilst the machine is running.
» Always fill the trough slowly.
» Beware of sharp edges on workpieces.
» Perform maintenance only when the machine is stopped.
Long hair which is not tied back, loose clothing or jewellery
Risk of injury due to being caught or drawn in.
» Whilst working on the machine, ensure hair is tied back, or
covered with a hairnet or cap.
» Wear close-fitting protective work wear.
» Do not wear loose jewellery when working on the machine.
3.2.
INTENDED USE
Surface finishing machine for surface processing such as de-
burring or polishing metal and plastic parts
Use only GARANT abrasive chips and GARANT Compound.
For work in indoor industrial environments. For use on dry
solid floors.
Use only in a technically perfect and safe condition.
Use only when correctly mounted and with safety devices and
guards on the machine operational.
Compound Dispose of the compound according to regula-
tions.
3.3.
REASONABLY FORESEEABLE MISUSE
Do not overload the machine.
Do not apply mechanical loads to the touch screen.
Do not use sharp objects for operating the touch screen.
Do not use compounds incompatible with the workpiece ma-
terials.
Feed the water-compound mixture in only via the water tank.
Do not feed in any external liquids.
Do not fill the circulation tank with an unsuitable ratio of wa-
ter-compound mixture.
Do not use any workpieces that are very sharply pointed, flam-
mable or too large for the working container.
Do not use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Not for use in areas where the floor slopes upwards or down-
wards.
Not for use in areas where high concentrations of dust, flam-
mable gases, vapours or solvents are present.
Do not make any unauthorised modifications to the machine.
3.4.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Comply with the national and regional regulations for safety and
accident prevention. Protective work wear such as safety shoes
and safety gloves appropriate for the risks associated with the in-
tended activities must be selected, provided and worn.
3.5.
PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS
Trained specialist for electro-technical work
A trained electrician in terms of this document is a person who
has been respectively trained and who possesses the skills and ex-
perience to recognise and avoid the dangers of working with elec-
tricity.
Training / qualification in the field of electrical technology as
specified in the nationally applicable regulations.
Trained specialist for mechanical work
A trained person in terms of this document is a person who has
been respectively trained and who possesses the skills and experi-
ence to recognise and avoid hazards.
Training / qualification in the field of mechanics as specified in
the nationally applicable regulations.
Trained person
Trained persons in the sense of this documentation are persons
who have been trained to perform work.
