Add a key
(VIN Locked, up to 2017 included, L405, L494, L462, L538-17)
This routine is used to add one (1) new key to the vehicle. It will not remove previously programed
keys.
Instructions
An already programed key is needed to begin the procedure. The first step is to send the Info ECUs to
GAP Diagnostic,

to allow the preparation of the first file
to update. Once updated, the process is repeated and this second update allows the programming of
keys.
Note :
•
A used key can be programed to a vehicle. Once programed, it will no longer work on the pre
-
vious vehicle. The emergency start (dead remote battery) will not work on the new vehicle.
•
Both key models (slim and bigger one) can be programed on any model and year.
•
Certain regions have been locked and key programming cannot have a key added.

This routine will indicate how many keys are programed on a specific vehicle.
Usage
This function is useful to prevent vehicle theft. For example, if one leaves the vehicle at a detailer, user
can verify if someone programed a new key for malicious usage afterwards. The function will return
two results, the number of programed key(s) currently in the vehicle vicinity and the total number of
key(s) programed.
