Creating backup data
Follow the procedure below to back up the whole server configuration.

Click [Start] – [Administrative Tools] – [Windows Server Backup].

From the operation menu, select [Backup Once].

In [Select backup configuration], select [Full server].

In [Specify destination type], select [Remote shared folder].

Specify a shared folder on another server or a DVD drive as a backup destination. The desti-
nation should not be on your server.

Select options if necessary, and start backup.
When backup is complete, the status (succeeded or failed) will be displayed in the message part
of the [Windows Server Backup] window.
4.2.2 Windows Server 2003
When Windows Server 2003 is installed, create the Automated System Recovery (ASR) set. To create it,
an unused formatted floppy disk and media to store the backup file are required.

Only system information can be restored by using the Automated System Recovery (ASR) set that is
created in this procedure. Data such as files you created are not included. Regular data backup by
using a backup device is recommended. For backup, refer to "8.5 Backup" (

The [Backup or Restore] window appears.

Select [Back up files and settings], and then click [Next].
The [Items to Create Backups] window appears.

Select [All information on this computer], and then click [Next].
The [Backup Type, Destination, and Name] window appears.

Enter a name and a destination of the backup file, and then click [Next].
The [Completing the Backup or Restore Wizard] window appears.
