Introduction
The
Splice
Mat
e
TM
with PAS technology is designed for splicing a variety of optical fiber
ribbons and single fibers. Its small size and light weight make it suitable for any
operating environment. It is easy to operate and splices quickly while maintaining low
splice loss. In order to achieve the splicer’s full capabilities, read the following
important information.
Splicer Name : Splice Mate
Model Name : FSM-11R
Splice modes
In addition to standard splice modes, the
Splice
Mat
e
TM
also has 5 automatic modes,
[AUTO], [SM AUTO], [NZ AUTO], [DS AUTO], and [MM AUTO]. The AUTO
modes are available for single fiber and up to 4 fiber ribbons.
When using an AUTO mode, the splicer counts the number of fibers and selects the
adequate splice condition automatically. Moreover, the automatic arc calibration
function is enabled when using AUTO mode.
The standard modes consists of [SM] for SMF (ITU-T G652), [NZ] for NZDSF
(ITU-T G655), [DS] for DSF (ITU-T G653), and [MM] for MMF (ITU-T G651).
Automatic arc calibration function
This function calibrates the arc power during every splice. When the automatic arc
calibration function is enabled, performing the [Arc calibration] function before a
splice operation is not necessary. The automatic arc calibration function works in
AUTO modes only. When using standard splice modes, performing [Arc calibration]
before splicing is strongly recommended.
