Care, maintenance and disposal
General
Under normal operating conditions the spot welding gun requires only a minimum of care
and maintenance. However, it is vital to observe some important points to ensure the weld-
ing system remains in a usable condition for many years.
In terms of maintenance intervals, always select the earlier time.
WARNING!
Machines that start up automatically can cause serious injury and damage.
In addition to these operating instructions, the safety rules issued by the manufacturer of
the robot and welding systems must also be observed. For your personal safety, ensure
that all protective measures have been taken and will remain in place for the duration of
your stay within the working area of the robot.
Maintenance to
be carried out dai-
ly or each time the
tape is changed
-
Check electrode alignment (remove tape guide cap, adjust electrodes to the distance
of the sheet to be welded, carry out visual inspection of electrode alignment, tolerance
= 0.5 mm from the central axis, adjust electrode alignment if necessary (see "Calibrat-
ing the arms")
-
Check electrodes for wear
-
Check sheet thickness compensation for the required applications (operating range
10° - 15° from top dead centre)
-
Check tape transport (brake setting)
-
Check wear on tape guide caps (tape must not be in contact with the electrode during
tape feed)
-
Check that the tape spooling device lock is firmly seated
-
When welding with "adhesive", clean the tape feed mechanism with a detergent rec-
ommended by the adhesive manufacturer
-
General visual inspection of the DeltaSpot welding gun for damage and leaks
-
Always check before switching on the system that the enabling buttons on the Remo-
teControl Pro are working properly.
-
Always check the Emergency Stop button before switching on by simply pressing the
button.
Weekly mainte-
nance or after
every 50,000
spots
-
Check the cooling tube setting
-
Check ease of movement, location and contamination of tape guide rollers and sliding
members
-
Check that screws are firmly seated
-
Check that plug connections are firmly seated
-
Check cables for damage
-
Check coolant quality (See "Notes on system cooling")
-
Clean DeltaSpot spot welding gun with a damp cloth
-
Check the current tapes for wear (maximum 15% strand breakage)
-
Check that the door contact on the housing is working properly. The welding system
must not work if the door is open.
Monthly mainte-
nance or after
every 200,000
spots
-
Clean cooling system with compressed air
