4.7.3 EtherNet Config
Use this option to set the freeStor Xpand 1500C’s Ethernet port configuration. The DHCP
Function allows you to configure the freeStor Xpand 1500C to retrieve an IP address from a
DHCP server (dynamic IP address) or to set one manually (static IP address). If you have a
DHCP server on your network, and the disk array is on the same network as the DHCP server,
and you wish the disk array to retrieve an IP address from the DHCP server, set this to Enabled.
Otherwise, set it to Disabled and give the unit a static IP address.
If DHCP server is set to Disabled, you will have to set a static IP address for the disk array
under Local IP address, and also enter a gateway IP address and subnet mask (typically a
router on the network that connects to the internet).
You can also change the port numbers used by the freeStor Xpand 1500C to access its
interface and for it to send out email. It is not advised that you change these settings from the
defaults unless you are familiar with networking technology. The ports that can be changed are
for HTTP access, Telnet access, and outbound SMTP.
Make the required changes, check the “Confirm The Operation” checkbox, and click “Submit” to
save the changes.
Note:
If you change the IP address of the disk array, you may no longer be able
to access the web interface. If this is the case, you will have to change the IP
address of your computer and/or enter the new IP address of the disk array into
the address bar of your web browser.

4.7.4 Alert By Mail Configuration
The “Alert By Mail Configuration” page (Figure 4-13) is used to configure the freeStor Xpand
1500C’s email alert function. To set up the alert system, first enter the IP address of your SMTP
server. This is usually provided by your ISP or hosted in-house. Then enter the Sender name
and email address. Then enter account name and password to log onto the SMTP server (if
necessary). Then enter up to four names and email addresses to send the alerts to under
MailTo Name. Finally, select which level of events should be sent via plaintext email. Click
