Problem 12 - The steam boiler overfills.
Solution 1 - Inspect the auto-fill valve for proper operation and/or foreign object.
1. Remove the ma-
chines top panel.
2. Remove the
machines right side
panel and surround.
Important! - Before proceeding with solution 1, the following steps must be accomplished.
1. Turn off the main water supply to the machine.
2. Locate the expansion valve in the drain box.
3. Turn the barrel of the expansion valve counter-clockwise to releive pressure in the
front boiler.
4. When the lower portion of the gauge reads 0 bar, you may proceed.
3. Remove the control
box mounting bracket
from the machine.
4. Disconnect the
power leads going
to the solenoid coil.
5. Disconnect the inlet
and outlet tubes and
remove the autofill
valve from the ma-
chine.
6. Remove the
end-cap from the
valve stem.
7. Remove the coil
retaining nut.
8. Remove the coil
from the valve stem.
There are generally two reasons the steam boiler over-fills, a foreign object lodged in the auto-
fill valve allowing water to slowly seep into the boiler causing it to over fill, or the auto-fill probe
can build-up with scale deposits due to excessively hard water. When the probe builds up with
scale, it fails to allow the voltage flowing through the probe to ground out properly which causes
the machine to think it’s low on water and overfill under power.
