Dry Running Vacuum Pump

FLOWSERVE SIHI Pumps Rev 1
After shutting down the pump as consequence of a stopping requirement or a failure, the system will be
switched over to the state
flushing
. Hereby the flushing valve will be opened for a pre-set time; this process serves
to dry and to clean the commissioning and decommissioning working chamber [see chapter 12 Maintenance,
Disassembly & Assembly] by flushing with an inert gas e.g. nitrogen. The pump can be started at any time; also
during the flushing it can be started immediately.
9.9 Shut Down
1. For putting out of operation (maximally for one week) proceed as follows:
Switch off the pump by initializing the STOP signal.
2. Close any additional shut-off elements in the suction line when the pump has stopped.
3. The working chamber of the vacuum pump will be flooded with flushing medium e.g. nitrogen. This
operation can take up to 30 minutes.
Note: Before working at the unit wait for sufficient cooling down of the parts.
4. Close the coolant supply.
5. Stop the purge gas supply only for work on the SIHIdry.
Note: The dry purge gas supply should be never switched off!
6. If any work should be carried out at the pump set, the disconnection from the electric supply must
be made by authorized staff members.
NOTE: If pump is equipped with AC-D1 control option, after Shut Down request is enabled, pump goes
into the cleaning mode and as long as the signal is maintained, it will finish the cycle and stop. If the
Shut Down request is de-energized during the cycle, pump will finish the cleaning cycle and will go
into Warm-up mode. This way, the pump allows for another cleaning cycle, if Shut-Down request is
enabled again.
10 Maintenance, Disassembly & Assembly
The work described in this chapter must be carried out by trained staff only. The necessary safety
measures as described in the different chapters of these operating instructions should be strictly
observed. Maintenance should be carried out at the prescribed intervals and the work should be
recorded in a service log. Electrical work on the modules of the pump unit must be carried out by
authorized personnel only.
10.1 Preparation
The individual components of the pump unit, including the vacuum pump, must be shutdown according
to the instructions in 9.9 Shut Down.
10.2 Safety
Warning! Risk of burning due to hot surfaces.
Therefore:
-
Before starting any activity, ensure that all
components are cooled down to the ambient
temperature or
-
Wear protective work clothing and safety gloves
when working near hot components
Surfaces of inlet, outlet pipes and pump casing may be hot.
The operating company of the device must ensure that the
corresponding sign is affixed.
