10.3 Preventative Maintenance & Condition Monitoring
Note: Preventative maintenance, where equipment is maintained before break down occurs. This
type of maintenance has many different variations and is subject of various researches to
determine best and most efficient way to maintain equipment.
Recent studies have shown that Preventative Maintenance is effective in preventing age related
failures of the equipment.
For random failure patterns which amount to 80% of the failure patterns, Condition Monitoring proves
to be effective.
10.4 Maintenance
The vacuum pump requires little maintenance. There are different options for maintenance and / or
repair. In principle maintenance and replacement work can be also carried out by trained site personnel.
Alternative 1: Service in case of problems. The -SIHI-Pumps Service personnel will analyze the
problem and replace any defective parts on site or will arrange for transport and repair at our works or
local repair facility. The response time for – Flowserve SIHI Pumps Service personnel will be within 24
hours) of notification of the problem to SIHI Pumps either to the local Service Shops.
Alternative 2: Service by site personnel in case of problems. The user will analyze the problem and
replace any defective parts on site as described in these operating instructions. New parts or replacement
parts can be ordered from our local office. The required parts will be dispatched within 5 days after receipt
of order, subject to availability.
