TROUBLESHOOTING
The troubleshooting chapter is divided into two sec-
tions:
•
Troubleshooting Chart – A list of symptoms, proba-
ble causes, and remedies.
•
Test Functions – Series of self test functions for
diagnostic information.
11.1 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
Symptoms observed during operation are generally
enough to identify a faulty component. Such symptoms,
together with probable causes and remedies are listed
in the following troubleshooting chart.

11.1.1 SYMPTOM CHART

Press power switch ON
Pump inoperative

Press switch ON
Pump fuse blown
Replace fuse
Pump platen not
Lift off and replace platen properly seated
Leak detector activated
Find and fix leaking connector, tubing, etc. and dry contacts
Lamp detector activated
Verify that colorimeter lamp is on, if not replace lamp bulb
Defective pump.
Call Rosemount Analytical
Leak detector LED
Leak in fluidics
Repair leak and dry leak detector contacts;
lights up
turn main power OFF for 20 seconds
High humidity
Adjust set screw on the fault/analog circuit board; turn
clockwise to decrease sensitivity
Display reads –LO–
Reading is below baseline
On silica systems, check for proper operation of molybdate
valve
All reagents are not flowing
Check flow of all reagents
Improper reagents or baseline
Check reagents and tubing connections solution
Display reads –HI–
Reading is above chemistry
Very high sample or contamination
linearity
Debris in flowcell
Clean flowcell
Display reads E–LO
Flow cell coated
Clean the flow cell with 0.5 N NaOH followed by deionized
wate r and then with 0.5 N H2SO4 for three minutes each
Broken flow cell
Replace flow cell
Improper reagents
Check reagents, replace if necessary
Improper connection
Check connections
of reagents to reaction
vessel assembly
Standard solutions
Check preparation
