CHEMPURE MANUAL
SECTION 6
START-UP
6.1 OVERFLOW SAMPLER ASSEMBLY
1. Ensure that temperature of sample stream is
between 0 and 50°C (30 and 122°F).
2. Set sample flow rate between 10 mL/min and 15
mL/min. (Sample should just overflow the overflow
tube.)
3. Check assembly for leaks.
6.2 FLUIDICS
Verify the following:
1. Colorimeter inlet tubing is in place in sample flow
cell inlet.
2. Colorimeter waste tubing is in waste pipe.
3. Quick-disconnect is locked and secured in its
clamp.
4. Sample pump tubing is connected to sample sole-
noid valve, common port.
5. Pump tubing harness is in place and tubes are
aligned and not twisted.
6. Check specific
CHEMISTRY SHEET
in Appendix
for any other information.
6.3 REAGENTS
Verify the following:
1. Two holes have been punched in reagent caps.
2. Reagent straws are placed in appropriate reagent
containers.
3. Baseline and fullscale standard tubing are in place.
6.4 POWER
1. Switch main power switch to ON position.
2. Open keypad panel door to expose circuit boards.
3. Press red re-start button on CPU board.
4. Pull pump forward and check leak detector by dip-
ping finger in tap water and touching leak detector
behind pump. Leak detector LED on status panel
will light.
5. Switch main power switch to OFF.
6. Dry leak detector.
7. Wait 20 seconds, then switch main power switch
back ON. Leak detector LED should be off, if not,
repeat steps 5 - 7. (If problem persists, see
TROU-
BLESHOOTING
.)
6.5 PUMP
1. Replace the platen onto the pump.
a. Pull pump forward to 45 degree angle.
b. Retrieve platen assembly and open cover plate.
c. Position slots on bottom of platen onto pins on
left side of pump.
d. Pivot platen down onto pump, engaging slots
and pins on right.
e. Close platen cover, ensuring that it depresses
microswitch on pump.
f.
Push pump back into operating position.
2. Switch pump power switch to ON.
3. Verify that pump speed switch is set on NORM.
6.6 HEATING BATH
After 30 minutes, verify that heating bath thermometer
(in reaction vessel assembly) reads approximately
45°C. See appropriate
CHEMISTRY SHEET
in
Appendix for any special settings.
