6.1.3 SECRETION CONTAINER
● For reasons of hygiene, we recommend to empty the
secretion container after each suctioning process and
then to clean it vigorously with warm water, preferably with
commercially available dishwashing detergent added.
Remove tenacious contaminations with a commercially
available bottle brush.
For instructions on how to remove the container, refer
to Section 5.0 ‚Operation‘ on page 33.
● We recommend to disinfect the secretion container once
every day with one of the instrument disinfectants
recommended on page 36. Please note that the secretion
container should first be emptied and rinsed with clear water
in order to ensure a better cleaning result.
The respective instructions for use of the disinfectants
must be observed!
Note: Never hold the container by the lid to carry it. The
filled container can come off the lid and fall down to the
floor (Figure 6). Use the secretion outlet to empty the
secretion container.
6.1.4 LID OF CONTAINER
The bacterial filter must ALWAYS be removed before
cleaning.
For instructions on how to remove the secretion container lid,
refer to Section 5.0 on page 33.
● We recommend to disassemble the container lid after each
suctioning process and to rinse the individual components
(lid, float, tube connector) thoroughly under clear water.
The lid must be absolutely dry before it is used again. When
assembling the lid, care must be taken to ensure that the
overflow protector is not damaged
● In order to achieve a better cleaning effect, first rinse the
individual components for at least 10 seconds under clear
water. Then disinfect the individual components with one of
the instrument disinfectants recommended on page 36. The
respective instructions for use of the disinfectants must
be observed!
6.1.6 DEVICE SURFACE
● In the event of contamination, but at least once a week, the
entire surface of the device should be cleaned with a moist
cloth (never use a wet cloth) and should then be disinfected
with one of the surface disinfectants listed on page 36.
● Some disinfectants can cause discolouration of the
material, which does not affect the functionality of the
device though.
● Make sure that the device has first been disconnected
from the mains power supply!
● The device must never be autoclaved, rinsed under
running water or immersed in liquids!
If liquid has penetrated into the device, then the device
must only be taken into operation again after it has been
checked by the authorised customer service.
6.2 OVERSUCTIONING
When has a suctioning device been exposed to
oversuctioning?
A suctioning device is considered to have been exposed to
oversuctioning if suctioning fluid has been suctioned into the
inside of the device.
How can I discern that oversuctioning has occurred?

COMPACT has an air filter on its underside
(page 37 / Figure 8). To check, remove the cover cap. If
moisture, gross contamination or deposits are visible in
the air filter, this shows that the suctioning device has been
exposed to oversuctioning. As a general rule, reduced suction
power is a sign that the device has possibly been exposed to
oversuctioning. If oversuctioning has occurred, the suctioning
device must be reprocessed by the manufacturer or a certified
partner of Andreas Fahl Medizintechnik-Vertrieb GmbH.
● A device that has been exposed to oversuctioning
constitutes a hazard both for the patient and for the
carer. For this reason, we recommend that the air filter
should be checked on a regular basis.
6.3 CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
To improve the cleaning effect, commercially available
dishwashing detergent can be added to the warm rinsing water.
If the parts are strongly contaminated, they should be left to
soak in the rinsing water for a longer period of time. Tenacious
contaminations must be removed with a soft brush or a soft
cloth.
● Partial cleaning in an automatic washer-disinfector
(secretion container and container lid) is in principle
also possible.
● Thermal disinfection is performed at a temperature
of 93°C.
The cleaning and maintenance instructions are the result of
long years of experience. Shorter cycles may be required,
depending on the application and the users‘ experiences.
The following consumables must be replaced in accordance
with the instructions given in Section 6.1 (Figure 7):
● The device must be disconnected from the mains for
cleaning!
● The instructions specified in the instructions for
use must be observed, particularly as regards the
recommended agents.
