WHILE WORKING WITH THE CHAINSAW
• Start the tool in an area outdoors.
• Never use the tool if other people, young children or animals are in the vicinity.
• Only work in daylight or with good artificial lighting; and always with a clear
view of what you are doing.
• Keep all parts of the body away from the chain of the tool.
• Never try to remove any objects jammed in the chain while the chain is still
rotating. Make sure that the spark plug has been removed before you remove
objects from the chain.
• Never work in the rain or during a storm. If there is the risk of lightning, switch
off the tool immediately and move to a safe place.
• Identify embankments and ditches early on to avoid slipping and subsequently
trailing the machine with you.
• Smoke, vapours and dust may be generated during sawing from the
lubricating oil or wood shavings. These are harmful to health.
• Take great care when moving backwards, making sure that there are no
obstacles or holes.
• If the safety devices are damaged, stop the tool immediately. Work may only
be resumed after the damaged parts have been replaced.
• If there is a blockage, do not rev the engine.
• It is strictly prohibited to make modifications to the tool or to remove or bypass
safety devices.
• If you are using the tool next to a road, take the road traffic into consideration
and take great care when crossing roads.
•
CAUTION
, the noise and vibration levels indicated in this manual are the
maximum applicable values for the operation of this tool. If maintenance has
been neglected or if replacement parts have been used that are not permitted
by the manufacturer, this can generate additional vibrations and noise levels
that exceed the specified values, which in turn can also cause premature wear
of the tool.
• Long-term frequent use of chainsaws can lead to joint trouble (of the wrists
and elbows), and can cause damage to the peripheral nervous system and
blood flow problems (Raynaud’s syndrome: blood flow problems in the fingers).
The following precautionary measures will help reduce these risks:
- Keep your hands warm (wear warm gloves)
- Take regular breaks
• Always hold the machine firmly by the front handle and rear grip to prevent
kickback.
• Caution Risk of kickback Kickback is the sudden recoil of the chainsaw
towards the operator. This happens when the front part of the chain hits the
timber or if the chain jams in the notch. Kickback can cause you to lose control
of the machine.
• Prevent kickback by holding the tool correctly in your hands. The left hand
holds the front handle and the right hand holds the rear grip.
• Prevent kickback by making sure that the point of the blade of the chain does
not come into contact with small branches, larger branches or tree trunks.
• Prevent kickback by cutting wood with the chainsaw running at high speed.
• Do not cut above shoulder height.
• Only ever cut one branch at a time to avoid kickback.
• Do not cut too quickly to avoid kickback.
