Living area battery
Depending on the layout, equipment or model, the living area battery is either located on the left-hand or right-hand side
of the vehicle, in a box below the rear bed.
All 12-volt appliances in the living area are powered by the living area battery when the system is set to 12-V operation.

No work may be performed on maintenance-free batteries. There is a risk of the battery exploding.

The battery may only be replaced by another battery of the same type.
CAUTION!
Damage to the living area battery
Incorrect charging and improper handling of the living area battery can lead to damage of the living area
battery.

Fully charge the living area battery if it will not be used for a longer period of time and then switch it off
via the 12 V main switch (Fig. 54, item 9) on the on-board control.

In winter, remove the fully-charged living area battery. Complete discharge can damage the living area
battery beyond repair.
)
The living area battery may only be charged with a suitable charger when removed from the vehicle.
Follow the instructions regarding the charging characteristic given by the manufacturer of the charger.
NOTE!
Draining the living area battery
If the 230 V power supply of the vehicle is switched off, disconnected or the vehicle engine is switched off,
the living area battery will be discharged within a matter of hours if the electrical appliances are switched
on (especially the refrigerator, the hot air blower, air conditioner and television).
NOTE!
Draining the living area battery
Power is also steadily drained from the living area battery, about 20 to 65 mA, even when the appliances
are switched off. In order to prevent damage to the living area battery, check the state of charge of the
living area battery in regular intervals. If the living area battery is not used for an extended period of time,
switch off the power supply using the main switch on the on-board control unit (Fig. 54, item 9).
