Printer Initialization

This printer has three initialization types: hardware, software, and panel.

Hardware Initialization

Hardware initialization is performed when you turn on the printer or when the host sends the INIT
signal to the parallel interface. The following functions are executed:

The printer mechanism is initialized.

❏

The input data buffer is cleared.

❏

Downloaded character definitions are cleared.

❏

The print buffer is cleared.

❏

Default values are set.

Software Initialization

Software initialization occurs when the printer receives the ESC @ command. The following
functions are executed:

❏

The print buffer is cleared.

❏

Default values are set.

Note:

The last panel settings are kept after software initialization.

Panel Initialization

Panel initialization is performed when you press the

Load/Eject

button while holding down the

Alt

button. The following functions are executed:

❏

The input data buffer is cleared.

❏

The print buffer is cleared.

❏

Default values are set.

Note:

The last panel settings are kept after panel initialization.

Monochrome Printing Mode

This printer has a monochrome printing function that allows printing to continue with black ink
when the color ink cartridge is out or not installed. This function is selected by the printer driver
setting. To enter monochrome printing mode, turn the

Power

button off and back on again.

Notes:

1. Once the printer has entered this function, print data must be re-sent.

2. The color select command (ESC r) is ignored.
