❏
If you do not print for a long time, the print head
nozzles may become dried out and clogged. Turn
the printer on at least once every six weeks to
prevent the print head clogging.
Head Cleaning is performed automatically after
the printer is turned on and started. Do not turn
the printer off until Head Cleaning is complete.
Leaving the printer for too long without turning it
on may result in a malfunction.
If repairs are necessary, they may require a fee
depending on your region.
❏
If the operation above cannot be performed, a
service engineer must perform pre- and
post-maintenance.
Depending on your region, pre- and
post-maintenance may require a fee.
Moreover, depending on the environment and
length of time stored, repairs may be required
during post-maintenance even if pre-maintenance
is done.
If repairs are necessary, they may require a fee
depending on your region.
Contact your dealer or Epson Support.
❏
The rollers may crease media left in the printer.
This can also cause wavy or curled media
resulting in paper feeding problems or the print
head could be scratched. Remove the media
before putting the printer in storage.
❏
Store the printer after confirming that the print
head has been capped (the print head is
positioned at the far right). If the print head is left
uncapped for a long time, the print quality may
decline.
Note:
If the print head is not capped, turn the printer on, and
then turn it off.
❏
To prevent the accumulation of dust and other
foreign matter in the printer, close all covers
before placing it in storage.
If you are not using the printer for a long time, put
an anti-static cloth or cover on the printer.
The print head nozzles are very small, and they
can become clogged easily if fine dust gets on the
print head, and you may not be able to print
properly.
❏
When turned on after an extended period of
disuse, the printer may automatically perform
Head Cleaning to ensure print quality.
Head Cleaning will end after about 5 to 7 minutes.

Also see the following section, “Notes on
Handling Ink Supply Units”.
Notes on Handling Ink Supply
Units
Note the following points when handling ink supply
units to maintain good print quality.
❏
Extra ink is required to fully charge the print head
nozzles the first time the printer is used; therefore,
replacement ink supply units will be needed
earlier than usual.
❏
Store ink supply units at room temperature out of
direct sunlight.
❏
To ensure print quality, we recommend using all
of the ink before whichever of the following dates
is earlier:
❏
The expiry date shown on the ink supply unit
packaging
❏
One year from the date the ink supply unit
was installed in the ink unit
❏
If you move the ink supply units from a cold place
to a warm place, leave them at room temperature
for more than four hours before using them.
❏
Do not touch the IC chip on the ink supply unit.
You may not be able to print properly.
❏
Because the IC chip manages the information for
the ink supply unit, such as the remaining ink
level, you can still re-insert and use them if you
removed them before the replacement message
appears.
❏
While ink supply units are in storage, keep the ink
supply ports free of dust. The ink supply port has
a valve in it so it does not need to be capped.
❏
Removed ink supply units may have ink around
the ink supply port, so be careful not to get any
ink on the surrounding area when removing the
ink supply units.
❏
To maintain the quality of the print head, this
printer stops printing before ink supply units are
completely expended.
