Installing digital certificates

Installing digital certificates enables secure communication between the server (this product) and client computer. 
The digital certificate is installed by the administrator using the procedure below. 

There are the following two ways of installing the digital certificate. 

•

When the certificate authority installed in the product can be trusted for use

•

When a certificate authority is managed by the company or other organization

When the certificate authority installed in the product can be trusted for use

(1) Creating a CA certificate and server certificate

Create a CA certificate and server certificate, and save them in the product. 

See “Creating a CA certificate and server certificate” on page 57 in this guide for details on the creation procedure. 

(2) Downloading the CA certificate

Download the CA certificate for this product. 

See “Downloading the CA certificate” on page 59 in this guide for details on the download procedure. 

(3) Importing the CA certificate

Import the CA certificate to the user’s client computer. 

If the CA certificate is imported correctly, the security warning screen no longer appears when logging into the 
EPSON Total Disc Net Administrator. 

When a certificate authority is managed by the company or other organization

(1) Downloading the server certificate

The administrator downloads an unsigned server certificate from this product. 

See “Downloading the server certificate” on page 60 in this guide for details on the download procedure. 

(2) Signing the server certificate

The certificate authority managed by the organization is used to sign the server certificate that was downloaded in (1). 

Please ask the certificate authority administrator to perform the signing procedure, or refer to the operation manual of 
the certificate authority software. 

(3) Uploading the server certificate

Upload the server certificate that was signed in (2) to this product. 

See “Uploading the server certificate” on page 61 in this guide for details on the upload procedure. 

(4) Importing the CA certificate

Import the CA certificate managed by the organization to the user’s client computer. 

If the CA certificate is imported correctly, the security warning screen no longer appears when logging into the 
EPSON Total Disc Net Administrator.
